Why should someone be a member of a church?

The emphasis of church membership has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with placing yourself under the supervision and oversight of the church.  The New Testament describes elders as shepherds as well as overseers, and membership gives clarity on whom they are to lead and guide.

How does someone join Southside Community Church?

One does not have to be a member to participate in the church’s activities, although there are many reasons to join a church.  The normal process for joining begins with our Inquirer’s Class.  In it we discuss various details of our church, such as salvation in Jesus Christ, the doctrines of our church, and the responsibilities of church members.

Afterwards you would meet with some of the church leaders to talk about your faith in Christ.  The next step would be to take vows before the congregation, and be baptized if the person has never been before.  Please call the church office for the details of our next Inquirers Class, which occurs several times during the year.
